Wife of Anambra State Governor, Nonye Soludo, has dismissed claims that she met with former governor, Chinwoke Mbadinuju.
She stated this while reacting to a viral video in which a lawmaker, Sen. Uche Ekwunife, alleged that Soludo and his wife had been part of Mbadinuju’s administration.
Ekwunife is the All Progressives Congress’ deputy governorship candidate in the upcoming Nov 8 governorship poll in Anambra.
He claimed that Soludo and her husband were part of Mbadinuju’s government and lacked the moral grounds to criticise the administration.
Speaking via a statement on Wednesday in Awka, the Anambra first lady asserted that it was paramount that she set the record straight.
Soludo said, “I cannot dignify Ekwunife’s fabrications with a response. Not at all! I am too busy with my children as schools resume. Besides, I cannot condescend to replying to inanities and fabrications.
“For the records, I never met Dr Mbadinuju of blessed memory. Never. As for the other fabrications, they are pitiable and laughable.”
Meanwhile, the governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in the Anambra governorship election, Paul Chukwuma, has responded to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, urging him to join market women if he desires trading insults.
Naija News reports that this comes after Soludo visited Chukwuma’s community, Umueri, over the weekend, where he told the community members that the YPP candidate was not in the governorship contest but was merely seeking popularity.
Soludo said Chukwuma used to be his friend, and it was during one of his visits to him that he saw the governor’s seat, admired it, and decided to contest for the governorship of Anambra State
In his response, Chukwuma, in a statement on Monday, urged Soludo to join market women if his desire as governor was to gossip.
While faulting Soludo’s performance, the YPP candidate insisted that he is serious about his contest and focused on issues that can help grow Anambra, not gossip.
He said, “If Soludo enjoys trading insults, he should go to the market where women sell pepper and ogiri to perfect the act.
“We are here in Anambra and do not have electricity power. Power is no longer in the exclusive list, but has been put in the concurrent list, where both the state and federal government can legislate on it. So, what is stoping Soludo from giving us steady power?
“I have visited Prof Bart Nnaji’s Geometric Power in Aba. I have asked questions, I have also been in China. Within three months I will give Anambra people steady power.”
