Veteran Nollywood actor, Patrick Doyle, has slammed Afrobeat singer, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, for saying Nigeria’s economy is in shambles.
Naija News reported that Davido recently warned black Americans about the growing interest in relocating to Africa.
Davido, during an interview on ‘The Big Homies House’ podcast, expressed scepticism about the trend, citing the current challenges facing the continent, particularly in his home country, Nigeria.
Responding to the show host’s question about black Americans seeking to return to the motherland, Davido responded, “Leave America and go where?”
He stressed the economic difficulties and systemic issues affecting African countries.
Speaking further from experience as someone raised in Nigeria after being born in Atlanta, Georgia, the singer added, “It’s not cool back home…The economy now is in shambles.”
Reacting to the controversial statement via his Facebook page, Patrick Doyle refers to Davido as an incredibly dense person for telling foreigners not to visit a country where his father has a $2 billion power generation investment.
He said, “You have to be incredibly dense to ask foreigners not to visit a country where your father has a $2 Billion Dollar power generation investment. Some persons ought to know much better.”
