Wolverhampton Wanderers are on the brink of sealing a major attacking boost after agreeing a deal in principle to sign Nigerian striker, Tolu Arokodare, from Belgian side Genk for €27 million.
Tolu Arokodare, 23, is expected to undergo his medical today, August 30, with the move set to make him one of the club’s headline summer signings.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano broke the news late on Friday night, confirming the agreement between the two clubs.
“EXCLUSIVE: Wolves agree deal in principle to sign Tolu Arokodare as new striker from Genk, here we go! €27m fee agreed with Genk tonight and medical booked on Saturday for #WWFC new striker,” Romano posted on 𝕏.
Arokodare has been one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe after a sensational 2023/24 campaign, where he finished as the Belgian Pro League’s top scorer with 23 goals and seven assists in 45 appearances.
His prolific form attracted strong interest from AC Milan, who considered him a backup option after struggling to secure Sporting CP’s Conrad Harder.
However, negotiations with Wolves moved quickly, especially after Genk sporting director Dimitri De Condé openly admitted earlier this month that the forward’s departure was “99 per cent certain,” adding that the player was “very well in the market and ready to take the next step.”
The Lagos-born striker, who began his European journey in Latvia before stints in France and Belgium, had seen his playing time limited at Genk this season as speculation over his future grew. He has largely featured from the bench in just five games so far.
