Special Adviser on Policy Communication to the President, Daniel Bwala, has countered the claims of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, that Northerners are ready to remove President Bola Tinubu from power in 2027.
Naija News reports that Lawal recently accused Tinubu of neglecting the North, stating that the president is excluding the region from ongoing federal projects in the country.
Reiterating the claim on Monday when he appeared on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Babachir Lawal said some significant northern politicians have formed a forum ahead of the 2027 election to address the issues affecting the region and how they would approach the forthcoming election.
However, speaking on Channels Television on Wednesday, Bwala dismissed Lawal’s claim, stating that the Northerners are extremely comfortable with Tinubu’s approach to governance.
Bwala stated that Northerners are comfortable because Tinubu is solving various problems.
He said, “Northern Nigeria is extremely comfortable with the governance approach of Mr President, do you know why? he is solving the problems that are in the long time and the problems in the moment. You can see conscious efforts by the president through various policy.”
Asked if the presidency internalises Nigerians’ complaints about hardship, Bwala said, ‘Things are already getting better.”
According to the Presidential aide, there is a distinction between the outcry by Nigerians and the agenda being cooked by opposition politicians, adding that opposition parties are being frustrated by the results and performance of President Tinubu’s administration.
