Why I Stopped Acting In Movies – Ego Boyo

Veteran Nollywood actress, Ego Boyo, has revealed that her decision to stop acting was based on personal interest, not pressure from her husband, as widely believed.

Naija News reports that the 56-year-old spoke in an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo.

The thespian said she walked away from acting when she discovered that producing films gave her more satisfaction.

She explained that acting no longer excited her, which led her to shift focus to working behind the scenes in the movie industry.

She said: “I left acting when I found out that I enjoyed producing more than acting. It was boring. The blogs wanted it to be something like my husband banned me from it, they wanted it to be sensational and it was not.”

Boyo, who gained fame in the early 1990s through her role in the television series Checkmate, began her journey in the entertainment industry in the 1980s.

Since stepping away from acting, she has dedicated her time to film production and other creative projects.

She also addressed the rumours suggesting her husband stopped her from acting, saying those claims were not true and were only made to stir drama.

In other news, Nigerian actor Efa Iwara has revealed that he is not satisfied with where he currently stands in his career.

Naija News reports that the Men’s Club actor spoke during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo.

The film star admitted that although he has made progress, he believes his full potential has not yet been reached.

Iwara said he feels there is much more he can achieve and is willing to push himself further, as long as it doesn’t affect his health.

He said: “No. I am not happy with where my career is. I feel like I can do so much more. I feel like there’s so much potential that is untapped. I feel like I can work twice as hard as I’m working now, pending that I don’t break down. I’m just never satisfied, never satisfied.”
