President Bola Tinubu has paid an official visit to the Oba of Lagos, His Majesty, Oba Rilwan Akiolu.

In a statement on his X handle on Saturday, the President disclosed that he visited the monarch at his Iga Idunganran palace on Friday.

Extolling the virtues of traditional institutions and their leaders, Tinubu explained that monarchs play a vital role in shaping society.

He wrote, “Today, I had the honour of visiting His Majesty, Oba Rilwan Akiolu of Lagos, at the historic Iga Idunganran Palace, a site rich in culture and tradition.

“During my visit, Kabiyesi and I engaged in meaningful conversations about the role traditional institutions play in shaping our society and how they can improve on their role as partners in governance and development.

“We discussed Nigeria’s challenges and emphasised the importance of leveraging our traditional values in building a cohesive society that promotes prosperity for all citizens.

“Thank you, Kabiyesi for the opportunity of this important meeting.”

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has assured that his mission remained to make the lives of Nigerians better.

President Tinubu, on, after Jummat prayers in Lagos Island, thanked supporters who trooped out and hailed him.

In a brief appreciation tweet on his X handle, the President reassured his commitment to creating a better future for the citizens.

People are at the heart of our mission. Thank you, Lagos Island, for the warm and rapturous welcome this afternoon.

“I appreciate your support, which further fuels my determination to create a brighter future for a Nigeria that works for everyone—one we will all be proud to call our country

“We must work and pray together for a better country,” he said.

Nigeria’s President had, in his New Year speech promised a better year for the citizens. He said his policies would boost food production, promote local manufacturing and reduce the high cost of living.

In 2025, our government is committed to intensifying efforts to lower these costs by boosting food production and promoting local manufacturing of essential drugs and other medical supplies. We are resolute in our ambition to reduce inflation from its current high of 34.6% to 15%. With diligent work and God’s help, we will achieve this goal and provide relief to all our people.

“In this new year, my administration will further consolidate and increase access to credit for individuals and critical sectors of the economy to boost national economic output,” the President stated.
