West Ham United Go Top After Halting Brighton’s Unbeaten Run

West Ham United continued with their unbeaten run in the 2023-2024 Premier League season by halting the unbeaten run of Brighton away at Falmer Stadium.

During the nail-biting encounter, James Ward-Prowse scored his first goal for West Ham United as they outshone their hosts with beautiful counter-attacking football.

Ward-Prowse scored his goal in the 19th minute with a tap-in from two yards out after outstanding work by Michail Antonio.

Jarrod Bowen added another goal for the visitors in the 58th minute by intercepting a cross from Said Benrahma and sending the ball into the corner of the goalpost.

Bowen’s shot into the corner in the 63rd minute set up Antonio to score the third goal for the visitors even though Brighton continued to enjoy the most of the ball possession.

The Seagulls scored a late consolation goal thanks to Pascal Gross’ drive attempt that found the far corner, but David Moyes’ squad held off a late Brighton pressure assault to secure the 3-1 victory.

The victory means that Brighton have dropped to the 4th spot pending the outcome of Sunday’s fixtures. They currently have 6 points in three games after two wins and a defeat.

As for West Ham United, they are currently topping the league table pending the outcome of Sunday’s fixtures. They have 7 points in three games after two wins and a draw.
