American actress and talk show host, Jada Pinkett Smith, has opened up about what her current relationship with her husband Will Smith is like.
According to her, they have both been living their separate lives since 2016, because they were tired of trying to make the marriage work, Naija News learned.
The 52-year-old screen diva made this revelation during a clip from her upcoming NBC News primetime special with Hoda Kotb.
She said she and her actor husband, Will Smith didn’t make their divorce public because they weren’t “ready yet” at the time, adding that it was not a divorce on paper but it was a divorce.
”Since 2016, we have been living apart,” she said.
The actress noted that their upcoming divorce would be impossible because she made a promise never to get divorced.
She said: “Why it fractured, that’s a lot of things. I think by the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted from trying. I think we were both stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be. I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce, We will work through whatever, and I just haven’t been able to break that promise.”
The couple got married in 1997 and were blessed with two children – a boy named Jaden, and a girl called Willow.
