Breaking: Crisis Hits Labour Party In Bayelsa, Party Splits Into 4 Factions Two Days Before Election

A Labour Party (LP) agent in Imo State, Calistus Ihejiagwa, was on Sunday morning beaten and bundled out of the Imo State Collation Centre in Owerri, the state capital.

Naija News learnt that Ihejiagwa was consistently objecting to the results collation from Local Government Areas, with claims that the results brought before the state collation centre were at variance with what was on the Result Viewing Portal (IREV).

The LP party agent also said he had a petition to submit before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

However, the Returning Officer for the election, Prof Abayomi Fashina, shut him down, insisting it was not in his purview to receive petitions.

Displeased by the series of interruptions, other party agents, in a video shared by Channels TV, were captured beating Ihejiawa before he was bundled out of the collation centre.

Thugs Beat Up Labour Party’s Agent In Imo State

Meanwhile, the governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Imo State, Athan Achonu, on Saturday, alleged that thugs beat up his party’s agent during the election.

Achonu charged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to cancel the votes in polling units marred by violence.

The governorship candidate stated this in Umunumo hamlet in the Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.

When asked if the electoral body should cancel votes in polling units marred by violence, Achonu said, “Of course, where this thing is happening, they must cancel it.”
