Nigerian and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, is reportedly one of the three strikers on Chelsea’s wishlist ahead of the January transfer window.
Victor Osimhen scored 31 goals in all competitions last season, leading Napoli to the Serie A title for the first time in 33 years, and he has continued to play well so far this season.
The Evening Standard claims that Osimhen is the player in whom the Blues have the greatest interest. This is because, after a mediocre start to the season, Chelsea’s coach, Mauricio Pochettino, has identified that the club’s major issue is converting chances.
They are also considering signing Brentford forward Ivan Toney, who could cost them £100 million, and 18-year-old Antonio Nusa of Club Brugge.
Despite having only seven goals in his career, Nusa is one of Europe’s most highly anticipated wonderkids and has already made four appearances for Norway. Toney would provide a track record of exceptional net-busting expertise.
Even though all three would present different qualities and chances, Osimhen sticks out because he was one of Europe’s best strikers in the previous season.
The Nigerian forward is recovering from a hamstring injury suffered during the October international break. He has scored six goals in Serie A this season.
Recall that the 24-year-old was heavily linked to a move to the Premier League before the current season started, and he recently discussed how much he admired the league as a child.
Since his current contract with Napoli expires in 2025, there have been talks about extending his stay at the Diego Maradona Stadium until 2026.
According to reports, Chelsea won’t decide on a January transfer window until mid-December, so Napoli will likely attempt to hold onto him through the summer.
