Nigeria international, Victor Osimhen has gotten a new club coach as his club, Napoli, confirmed the signing of Walter Mazzarri as their manager for the rest of the season.
This means that Rudi Garcia will officially lose his managerial job today, November 14, while Victor Osimhen will return from injury under a new manager.
Recall that Osimhen and Garcia didn’t enjoy anything close to a perfect relationship during the French coach’s barely six-month reign at Napoli.
Recall that after Garcia lost his job at Al Nassr last season, he was appointed to replace Luciano Spalletti who led Napoli to win the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years last season before he decided to go on sabbatical.
Interestingly, Spalletti didn’t spend up to five months on his sabbatical before he was appointed the head coach of Italy’s national team.
As for Garcia, even though Victor Osimhen who scored a total of 31 goals for Napoli last season, remained at the club, the coach wasn’t able to prove that he was as bright as Spalletti in managing the Italian champions.
Under his leadership so far this season, Napoli have managed to win six games and recorded three draws and three defeats in 12 league games. The inconsistency has forced the reigning Serie A champions to remain in the 4th place in the league standings with 21 points, ten points behind first-placed Inter Milan.
Walter Mazzarri who has coached Napoli from 2009 to 2013 is expected to serve as the club’s interim manager until the end of the season.
The 62-year-old Italian tactician has also coached Inter Milan, Watford, Torino, Sampdoria, and a host of other clubs.
