Former Nigeria international, Victor Moses has made an unexpected return to English football by signing with recently relegated Premier League club, Luton Town.
Victor Moses, who is currently 33 years old, was a free agent after leaving Spartak Moscow this summer. He officially signed a deal with the Championship side, Luton, much to the delight of fans and the club’s management.
Moses who was contracted to Chelsea from 2012 to 2021, initially joined Luton on a trial basis, showcasing his skills during training sessions and impressing the coaching staff.
He further demonstrated his capabilities in a behind-closed-doors match, ultimately convincing Luton’s manager, Rob Edwards, to offer him a contract, which Moses gladly accepted.
Speaking about Moses’ signing, Edwards expressed his satisfaction, saying, “Victor is one we’ve been talking to for quite a while. He trained with us last week and played 60 minutes in a behind-closed-doors game, and we decided because we think he’s able to come in and help us.
“He gives us more strength in depth and versatility because he’s someone who can play both sides or as a number ten. He’s tactically aware and can provide some really good competition for us.”
Despite the excitement surrounding Moses’ arrival, Edwards emphasized the importance of allowing the Nigerian winger time to acclimate to the team’s strategies and style of play.
The coach added, “I don’t want to put too much pressure on him and expect too much too soon. He’s not going to come in and start the games straight away. He’s got to get used to what we do and how we play, but he’s fit, he’s able to come in and affect it now, and he definitely makes the squad stronger.”
Victor Moses brings a wealth of experience to Luton, having contributed to Chelsea’s Premier League victory in 2017 and played a vital role in Inter Milan’s Serie A triumph during the 2019-20 season, both under the management of Antonio Conte.
With his extensive experience across various clubs and countries, including stints in Turkey and Russia, as well as 38 appearances for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Moses is poised to make a significant impact in the English football scene once again.
