Uncertainties As AEDC Confirms Power Outage In FCT

Three communities within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are currently experiencing a fresh power outage.

As stated by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) on Tuesday, this blackout resulted from a technical fault.

The areas affected include Utako, certain sections of Jabi, and Wuye, all of which have been plunged into darkness since the occurrence.

“Dear customers in Utako, parts of Jabi, and Wuye. We regret to inform you that the ongoing power outage is due to a technical fault,” the statement partially read.

The power utility company, however, indicated that its dedicated team of technicians is actively working on-site to rectify the issue.

Nevertheless, it did not specify when power would be restored to these communities.

“Our dedicated technical team is working tirelessly to restore power as quickly as possible.

“We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to serve you better,” the statement added.

Naija News recalls that last week, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced an increase in the national grid‘s transformer capacity by 5,910 megavolt-amperes (MVA).

The General Manager of Project Coordination and Technical Assistant to the MD/CEO, Aminu Tahir, disclosed this information while providing an update on the projects managed by the Project Management Unit (PMU) of TCN.

He indicated that the unit is currently implementing projects financed by the World Bank, Agence Française de Développement (AFD), and the African Development Bank (AFDB), while the procurement process for the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) projects in Lagos and Ogun is nearing completion.

Tahir emphasised that several projects under the PMU have been finalised, with others reaching approximately 80 per cent completion.

He further stated that these initiatives have greatly enhanced the national grid, contributing an additional 5,910 MVA of transformer capacity to date.
