The serving overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, Tunde Bakare, has dismissed suggestions that his recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu was motivated by personal interests.
Naija News recalls that Bakare visited Tinubu last week in Lagos State, and while speaking with journalists after the meeting, the clergyman said his discussion with the President focused on national development and how to move the country forward.
He added that he had made suggestions to the president but left the decision on whether to act on them entirely up to him.
He said, “It’s not about just reservations. It’s about how the country will go well. My personal vision is to see a nation that works in my lifetime.”
However, the visit sparked speculations about possible political alignment or appointments.
Clarifying the visit during a sermon at his church, Bakare insisted that his engagement with the president was solely driven by national interest.
He said, “Some people still think he has gone there to settle himself. In what way have I settled myself before? What they gave me, I returned. What am I looking for?”
In other news, the Chairman of Tantita Security Services, Government Ekpemupolo, widely recognised as Tompolo, expressed his support for President Bola Tinubu on Friday, asserting that he is the sole visionary leader capable of revitalising the nation’s struggling economy.
The former Niger Delta warlord also claimed that a significant achievement has been made in the battle against oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the resource-rich region, reassuring Nigerians that the previously widespread sabotage of national infrastructure has now been largely mitigated.
