Transfers: Piero Hincapié Near Arsenal Move, Getafe Fight To Keep Uche, Napoli To Sign Højlund

Piero Hincapié

Arsenal are on the verge of strengthening their defence, with Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapié agreeing personal terms with the Premier League giants.

Piero Hincapié, a 23-year-old Ecuadorian defender, has reportedly chosen the Gunners ahead of several other suitors, with Mikel Arteta identifying him as the right fit for his evolving squad.

Hincapié, who is comfortable both at left-back and in central defence, is expected to arrive on loan with an obligation to buy.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development, writing on 𝕏: “Piero Hincapié has said yes to Arsenal and personal terms have been agreed, long-term deal ready. Understand Hincapié favours #AFC and is also seen as an ideal signing by Arteta. Arsenal prepare opening bid, likely loan + obligation to buy… with Kiwior to FC Porto, soon.”

The move could see Jakub Kiwior leave the Emirates, with FC Porto keen to bring him in before the window closes.

Meanwhile, in Spain, Getafe boss José Bordalás has admitted that losing Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche to Wolverhampton Wanderers would be a huge setback.

Uche, who impressed in Getafe’s 2-1 win over Sevilla on Monday night, is finalising a €20 million transfer to Wolves, where he is expected to sign a five-year contract.

Bordalás said: “Let’s hope he doesn’t leave. I’m against him leaving; he’s a very important player, and this becomes more difficult every day. If Uche leaves, we have a very serious problem. We can’t be at the mercy of selling a player as important as Uche.”

Club president Ángel Torres had earlier explained that financial constraints forced Getafe into the sale.

Elsewhere in Italy, Napoli are closing in on Manchester United striker Rasmus Højlund. The Danish forward is set to join the Serie A champions on loan, with a €45 million buy clause that will become mandatory.

A long-term deal running until June 2030 has already been prepared, pending final exit terms with United.

In Germany, Bayer Leverkusen are also set to announce the signing of former Real Madrid captain Lucas Vázquez.

The 34-year-old defender has passed his medical and will sign a two-year deal with the Bundesliga champions until 2027.
