1. Nigerians Blame You For Everything Wrong In The Country – Akande Tells Buhari

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief Bisi Akande has said he doesn’t envy the position of President Muhammadu Buhari as the leader of Nigeria.

Akande who observed rightly that many things are wrong with the country said the people blame the President for everything even when it’s obvious not all is his fault.

The elder statesman added however that such is to be expected of anyone who is a leader because the buck starts and ends on the leader’s table.

He made his view known on Thursday in Lagos at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos during the public presentation of his autobiography, “My Participations,” which had in attendance President Buhari and many others.

2. Soldiers Rescue Twenty Policemen From Terrorists, Kill 62, Arrest 28

Soldiers of the Nigerian Military deployed under Operation Hadin Kai have successfully rescued twenty abducted policemen from terrorists.

The troops also killed a total of 62 terrorists and arrested 28 of them while weapons and ammunition were recovered.

This was disclosed on Thursday by the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) in a statement by the Acting Director Defence Media Operations, Brigadier General Benard Onyeuko while giving a briefing to newsmen on the activities of the military in the past two weeks.

He noted that in the past 2 weeks, troops extensively conducted multiple land, maritime and air operations at different locations of the various theatres of operation.

Some gallant officers and soldiers also paid the supreme price in the period under review, Onyeuko revealed.

3. ‘Fake News’: Buhari Has Not Rejected Electoral Bill – Presidency

The Presidency has denied a media report that President Muhammadu Buhari has rejected the Electoral Amendment Bill.

Naija News reports that the Presidency was reacting to a report that the President had rejected the bill and transmitted it back to the leadership of the National Assembly.

In an interview with Daily Trust on Thursday, Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Babajide Omoworare, said the report is fake and should be disregarded.

Omoworare said there is no communication to the National Assembly to that effect, adding that any letter to the parliament would pass through his office.

He said that he is still waiting for the 30 days within which the president should communicate to the National Assembly if he wants to reject the report.

4. Bandit Terrorists Kill Katsina Commissioner, Rabe Nasir

Suspected bandit terrorists, on Thursday, killed the Katsina State Commissioner of Science and Technology, Dr. Rabe Nasir.

Naija News learned that the terrorists murdered the commissioner inside his home located in Fatima Shema Estate in Katsina metropolis.

According to reports, Nasir was stabbed in the stomach in his sitting room while his body was dragged into a toilet where it was locked.

It was gathered that security operatives have secured the body of the slain commissioner and taken over his residence.

5. #EndSARS: Gov. Sanwo-Olu Cancels Planned Peace Walk In Lagos

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has cancelled the proposed peace walk as part of measures to curb the spread of the Omicron Variant in the state.

The announcement was disclosed in a statement released by Sanwo-Olu on Thursday, December 9.

He further stated that the state has recorded a significant rise in the cases of the Omicron variant between November 30th and December 9th.

Recall that Sanwo-Olu had proposed a peace walk following the outcome of the work of the Judicial Panel on Restitution for Victims of SARS Related Abuses and Other Matters.

6. Obasanjo Diabolically Double-Crossed Bisi Akande – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has accused former President Olusegun Obasanjo of using diabolical double-cross to cost the second term aspiration of All Progressives Congress chieftain, Bisi Akande.

President Buhari on Thursday at the public presentation of the autobiography of Akande, titled: “My Participations,” in Lagos State claimed that Obasanjo’s diabolical acts ended Akande’s governorship aspiration.

According to Buhari, the only governor who was not affected by the plan of the former President was Bola Tinubu, who was the governor of Lagos State at the time.

7. Let Us See What You Are Using All The Borrowed Money For – Wike Tackles Buhari

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has accused the federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari of failing to adequately use the resources available in the country for the benefit of the people.

He alleged further that the current administration has borrowed a lot but has very little to show for all the huge funds gotten from both internal and external loans.

Speaking during the commissioning of the Rumuola Flyover Bridge in Port Harcourt, the State capital which was done by former Ondo State Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, Wike said the Buhari administration needs to stop giving excuses.

The Rivers State Governor went ahead to praise his administration, boasting that it uses the same contractor the federal government uses for its major projects too and manages the funds of the people of the state very well.

He also praised his party – the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a performing party.

8. My Bond With Akande Can Never Be Broken – Tinubu

National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, says his connection with the former governor of Osun State, Bisi Akande, is so strong and cannot be broken.

Tinubu on Thursday at the public presentation of the autobiography of Akande, titled: “My Participations,” in Lagos State described Akande as a hero, selfless leader and a self-disciplined politician.

He stated that Akande represents what a public figure in Nigeria ought to be, asking younger politicians to emulate the APC chieftain.

The former Lagos governor added that the formation of APC in 2013 could not have been possible without the valuable effort of Akande.

9. Unknown Gunmen Abduct Popular Imo Monarch

The traditional ruler of the Mbutu village in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, HRH Damian Nwaigwe, has been abducted by unknown gunmen.

It was gathered that the gunmen numbering over 10 stormed the ancient village and kidnapped the popular monarch at his palace in the early hours of Thursday.

A resident of the area told The Punch that the gunmen barricaded the palace and shot indiscriminately into the air until the monarch was whisked away.

The source stated the traditional ruler’s abduction had caused panic in the community, adding that the police in the state had been notified.

10. 2023: INEC Chairman Speaks On Buhari Rejecting Electoral Bill, Cost Of Direct Primaries

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmoud Yakubu has refused to disclose specific figures that might be involved in conducting direct primaries as proposed in the amended electoral bill currently before President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking to newsmen on Thursday after a closed-door session with members of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations, Yakubu said he won’t disclose details of his discussion with the lawmakers.

He, however, stated that no specific amount was put forward for the conduct of primaries in his discussion with the lawmakers adding that the amount planned for the 2023 general elections will be known after the 2022 national budget is finalized.

When pressed on the possible rejection of the amended electoral bill by President Buhari, the INEC boss said he wasn’t aware of anything of such.

“Really? I am hearing it for the first time,” he said.
