1. Stop Blaming Tinubu, Take Responsibility – Uba Sani Tackles Northern Political Leaders
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has urged northern political leaders to stop blaming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the challenges rocking the region.
The governor urged northern political elites to, instead, take responsibility for years of neglect and silence that have worsened the North’s decline.
Naija News reports Sani stated this on Tuesday at the government-citizen engagement session organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Foundation in Kaduna.
The governor said the forum was a call to deep reflection, not a ceremonial gathering, stressing that electoral promises must not be reduced to campaign rhetoric but seen as sacred commitments between leaders and the people.
According to the Governor, President Tinubu has fulfilled many of his campaign promises, particularly in areas of security, education, agriculture, and economic inclusion.
However, Sani stated that no president could succeed in isolation without the collaboration of regional leaders and citizens, adding that northern leaders have failed over the last two decades.
He criticised the long silence from influential voices in the region, pointing out that it was hypocritical to now heap blame on the Tinubu administration, which has only been in office for two years.
2. Those Helping Bandits Are Also Terrorists – CDS Musa
Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has warned citizens against providing any form of help or support to bandits operating in the country.
The CDS stated that those providing any form of help or assistance to the bandits, either directly or indirectly, are also terrorists and enemies of the state.
He warned that those supplying bandits with fuel, food, or other resources are equally culpable.
Naija News reports General Musa, who made the declaration on Tuesday during an interactive session on government-citizen engagement organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation (SABMF) in Kaduna, vowed that the military would always secure the north and the entire country.
The CDS warned that the military would deal squarely with those plotting the downfall of Nigeria and ensure peace prevails in troubled areas.
3. ‘Don’t Put Words In His Mouth’ – Peter Obi Clarifies Position On Joining PDP
The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has reacted to reports linking him with a return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 elections.
Obi also clarified reports that reaffirm his allegiance to the coalition-led African Democratic Congress (ADC), noting that he has not expressed any views on the two parties.
The former Anambra State Governor, in a statement released on his behalf by Ibrahim Umar of the Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) in Abuja on Tuesday, urged that words should not be put in his mouth.
Umar noted that the purported statement from Obi, denying his membership in the PDP and reaffirming his commitment to the ADC, did not emanate from him.
He added that Peter Obi remains focused on building a better Nigeria while political stakeholders are the ones speculating about his moves.
Naija News reports that the POMR cautioned that Obi has been clear about his position in the opposition coalition and would not accept anyone attributing a statement to him just to promote their selfish ambitions.
4. ‘We Are Not Criminals’ – FG Fires Ghanaians Protesting ‘Nigeria Must Go’
The Federal Government, through the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), has condemned the protest by Ghanaians calling on Nigerians to be deported from the West African country.
Naija News earlier reported that some Ghanaian citizens staged a protest against Nigerians, accusing them of engaging in mass prostitution, ritual killings, kidnapping, and violent crimes in their country.
In a viral video seen on Tuesday, the protesters, numbering in their hundreds, carried placards with inscriptions such as “Armed robbery and violent attacks must stop,” “Our health at stake due to mass prostitution,” “Nigerians are kidnapping and using people for rituals,” and “Our kids are getting missing because of Igbos.”
Reacting in a statement to Naija News, Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols, NIDCOM, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, disclosed that Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO NIDCOM, said the blanket outrage against Nigerians living in Ghana and branding them as criminals should be condemned by all.
The NIDCOM Boss appealed for calm and urged Nigerians living in Ghana not to be provoked or go into violence with anyone as the issue is being handled at the diplomatic level.
She advised anyone using inciteful words to desist henceforth both from Nigerians and Ghanaians as that is capable of escalating the matter.
5. ‘Your Administration Accumulating Unsustainable Debt Without Corresponding Development’ – Peter Obi Calls Out Tinubu
The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has accused President Bola Tinubu of engaging in uncontrolled borrowings without any corresponding infrastructural development to show for it.
While expressing deep concern about Nigeria’s rising debt profile under the watch of President Tinubu, Obi lamented that this development could compromise the future of future generations and worsen the living conditions of millions of citizens.
Naija News reports that the former Anambra State Governor, in a post on Tuesday via his 𝕏 account, specifically pointed at the recent approval by the Nigerian Senate of an additional $21 billion, €2.2 billion, ¥15 billion of external borrowing for the 2025–2026 fiscal cycle as well as ₦750.98 billion domestic bond issuance and a €65 65million grant.
He noted that the latest figures have brought Nigeria’s current total debt to approximately ₦187 trillion, with concerns that public debt may likely exceed ₦200 trillion by the end of 2025.
6. Tragedy Strikes In Ogun As Wandering Elephant Kills Farmer
A wandering Elephant from one of the government reserved forests has killed a farmer at Imobi in Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Naija News learnt that the Elephant was said to have attacked the farmer before killing him.
Confirming the tragic incident to Punch, the Commissioner for Forestry, Taiwo Oludotun, said, “Yes, we are aware and we are already on our way to the community”.
Similarly, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, stated that the elephants’ deadly attack happened on Monday, July 28, 2025 and the victim died while on his way to the hospital.
7. “I Will Throw My Last Punch This Year” – Anthony Joshua Hints At Retirement
British boxing star Anthony Joshua has sparked retirement rumours after revealing that 2025 could be his final year in the ring.
Note that Anthony Joshua has been in professional boxing since 2013. The 35-year-old former world heavyweight champion said his days in the game are numbered. He stated this during an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show.
Long may you reign supreme and keep giving fighters opportunities to become champions and make boxing great,” Joshua said in a message to MatchRoom. “Twelve years ago, I signed with you and 12 years later I will throw my last punch with you.”
Joshua has not fought since September 2024, when he suffered a shocking fifth-round knockout defeat to fellow Briton Daniel Dubois, a result that raised questions about his future in the sport.
Despite the setback, Joshua is expected to return to the ring before the end of 2025, though it now appears that fight could be the last of his career.

The ‘Bless Me’ singer said she does not believe any man is good enough for her.

10. Ayra Starr Addresses Claims That She Is Banned From Dating Under Roc Nation Deal
Afrobeats superstar, Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, also known as Ayra Starr, has addressed claims that she cannot start a family or have a boyfriend for the next five years.
Naija News reports that the singer recently signed a five-year management deal with Roc Nation, which is owned by American music executive Sean Carter, aka Jay-Z.
Following the announcement, there have been rumours in some sections of the media that a clause in her recent five-year contract with Roc Nation barred her from having a boyfriend or starting a family.
“Ayra Starr isn’t allowed to have a boyfriend or start a family during her five-year contract with Roc Nation,” a podcaster claimed in a video making the rounds on X.
Reacting to the video, Ayra Starr wrote, “Does Ayra Starr know about this?”
The singer also reposted a tweet which reads, “Them lie on top your head for broad daylight,” confirming that the report was fake.
