1. Sunday Igboho’s Trial Adjourned Till Monday
The Court D’Apeal in Cotonou, Benin Republic, has reportedly adjourned the trial of Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Igboho till Monday.
Naija News reports that this was made known in a statement on Friday by the Communications Manager of Ilana Omo Oodua, Maxwell Adeleye.
According to the group spokesperson, Sunday Igboho’s case has been adjourned till Monday 26th July to allow the Nigerian Government to bring up whatever evidence they may have.
But Ropo, his wife, a German citizen, was released and the judge ordered the return of her passport.
2. Nnamdi Kanu To Appear In Court On Monday
The leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, will be arraigned on Monday, July 26th, 2021.
In a statement on Friday, counsel to the IPOB leader, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, said his client would appear in court despite an annual vacation for judges.
Ejiofor added that he received a confirmation from the Federal High Court Abuja, that the hearing of Kanu’s case will proceed as scheduled.
3. Nnamdi Kanu: IPOB Shut Down US Bank Account
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has announced that it is shutting down its bank account domiciled in the United States.
Naija News reports that the pro-Biafra group made this known in a statement issued on Thursday by Chika Edoziem, IPOB head of the directorate.
The account which has been shut down served as a “worldwide” platform for members of IPOB to pay their monthly contributions.
Giving reasons for the closure, Edoziem said the account was closed after it received a report from the bank that some “yet to be identified persons” accused it of fraudulently operating the account.
4. Ilana Omo Oodua Gives Update On Sunday Igboho’s Case In Benin Republic
The umbrella body of Yoruba nation groups, Ilana Omo Oodua, on Friday released an update on the arrest and trial of Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho.
The update was given in a statement obtained by Naija News and signed by the group Communications Manager, Maxwell Adeleye.
The statement reads: “Yesterday, the court set Mrs. Adeyemo, lgboho’s wife free since it has been found that she has committed no offence and there’s no complain whatsoever against her. Consequently, her German passport was returned to her.”
5. Names Of All APC/PDP Candidates For Lagos LG Elections [Full List]
Residents of Lagos will tomorrow, Saturday, July 24th, 2021, come out in their numbers to vote for candidates that would pilot their affairs at the grassroots.
Naija News reports that the Lagos State government on Thursday announced the restriction of human and vehicular movement on Saturday to facilitate the conduct of the planned local government polls in the state.
The restriction of movement will be in place between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm.
6. Court Orders DSS To Produce Igboho’s Aides
The Federal High Court, Abuja has directed the Department of State Service to produce the detained aides of Sunday Igboho in court on July 29.
Justice Obiora Egwuatu stated this after the court granted the applications of the 12 detained aides of the Yoruba Nation agitator.
The judge also ordered the secret police to show cause why aides to the Yoruba Nation agitator should not be granted bail.
The matter was adjourned to July 29 to take place during the court vacation.
7. Sunday Igboho Risks 21 Years Imprisonment Over ‘Fake Beninese Passport’
Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho may face 21 years imprisonment for allegedly tendering a Beninese passport before he was arrested in Cotonou on Monday.
Recall that the Yoruba activist and his wife, Ropo were arrested on Monday at the Cadjèhoun Airport in Cotonou.
Igboho who has been declared wanted in Nigeria was said to have presented a fake traveling document to Immigration officials in Benin.
The Nigerian Immigration Service had earlier alerted Nigeria Police, Department of State Services (DSS) and National Intelligence Agency (NIA) that Igboho was planning to acquire a new Nigerian passport as part of plans to flee.
8. Sunday Igboho Was Arrested With Nigerian, German Passports – Lawyer
The counsel to Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho, in Benin Republic, Ibrahim David Salami, has noted that the activist was arrested with Nigerian and German passports.
Salami stated this while reacting to the reports that the agitator was tried for possessing a Beninoise passport despite not being a citizen of the country.
The lawyer while speaking with BBC Yoruba said “It is not true that Benin Republic passport was found on Sunday Igboho when he was arrested.
“What was found on him were Nigerian and German passport. His wife had only her German passport on her at the point of arrest.”
9. Bandit Terrorists Kill 7 Vigilantes, Abduct 13 In Zamfara
Suspected bandits have killed seven vigilantes and kidnap thirteen persons during an attack on Dansadau town of Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
It was gathered that the bandits invaded the community around 2:30am and raided the town for about 4 hours, ending in the early hours of Friday morning.
The bandits were said to have fired several shots in the air and then went into some houses and abducted 13 people, including women.
According to residents, the bandits also set ablaze an armoured personnel carrier belonging to the Nigerian military.
10. IPOB Slams Edwin Clark Over Exclusion Of Niger Delta In Biafra
The outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has berated elder statesman, Edwin Clark, for excluding the Niger Delta in Biafra Republic.
Recall the Clark had in an interview with BBC pidgin opposed the inclusion of the South-South region in Biafra by IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
The elder statement added that the proscribed group and its leader are dreaming over its inclusion of the Niger Delta region in Biafra Republic.
