
President Bola Tinubu will visit Kano State on Friday, July 18, 2025, to commiserate with the family of late elder statesman and renowned businessman, Alhaji Aminu Dantata.
This was confirmed in a statement by presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga.
He recalled that President Tinubu was out of the country at the time of Dantata’s passing but directed some of his ministers, led by Defence Minister, to attend the burial in Saudi Arabia as a mark of honour for the late nonagenarian.
Naija News recalls that the billionaire and philanthropist passed away at the age of 94 on Saturday, June 28.
During the visit, Tinubu is expected to personally condole with Dantata’s relatives and also express his sympathies to the Kano State Government and the people of the state.
In other news, President Bola Tinubu on Thursday announced that the University of Maiduguri will now be known as Muhammadu Buhari University, Maiduguri, in honour of the late former President, Muhammadu Buhari.
Naija News reports that the announcement was made during a special Federal Executive Council (FEC) session held in Abuja to pay tribute to Buhari, who passed away in London on Sunday, July 13, 2025, following a brief illness.
Speaking at the session, President Tinubu paid glowing tribute to the former leader, describing him as a man of “discipline, moral fortitude, and unwavering patriotism.”
“President Muhammadu Buhari was not a perfect man, no leader is, but he was a good man, a decent man, and an honourable man,” Tinubu declared before a solemn gathering of cabinet ministers, senior officials, and aides.
