President Bola Tinubu has again held a meeting with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as the political crisis in the state continues to linger.

Presidency sources confirmed that the meeting took place on Sunday night at the President’s official residence in Aso Villa, Abuja.

Although details of the discussions have not been disclosed, the meeting comes amid renewed tensions over political leadership recognition in Rivers State, as well as stalled efforts by some lawmakers to impeach Governor Fubara.

The intervention also follows recent reports that President Tinubu had advised Governor Fubara, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to recognise Wike—a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member currently serving in the APC-led Federal Government—as the political leader of the party in Rivers State.

The latest engagement is believed to be at least the fourth time President Tinubu has personally stepped in to mediate the prolonged political standoff between both men, underscoring the administration’s concern over stability in the oil-rich state.
