President Bola Tinubu on Saturday evening held a closed-door meeting with some prominent members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and three former governors, Ayodele Fayose (Ekiti), Samuel Ortom (Benue), and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia).

Naija News reports that the meeting, which took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, has sparked speculation about its agenda, although official details have yet to be disclosed as of press time.

A source familiar with the development told Daily Post that the meeting featured key PDP figures who have maintained varying degrees of alignment with the current administration.

“Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, President Bola Tinubu, and former Governors of Benue and Abia States, Samuel Ortom and Okezie Ikpeazu respectively, met with the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja today,” the source said.

The meeting comes just days after Fayose paid a Sallah visit to President Tinubu at his Lagos residence on June 9.

Speaking with journalists after that visit, Fayose explained that his visit was to encourage the president and show continued support for his leadership.

The former Ekiti governor lauded Tinubu’s efforts to stabilise the Nigerian economy amidst daunting challenges.
