Security agents in Nigeria have placed three sitting governors on their watchlist over an alleged plan to cause trouble and destabilize the peace of the country.
Naija News understands the three governors are all in their final tenures in office and are reportedly planning the violence to start from the northern region.
Though the specific identities of the Governors have not been made public, it is understood that one is from the North East, another from the North Central, and the third is from the South-South.
According to a report monitored on Vanguard, the three governors intend to cause a major protest like the 2020 #EndSARS protest but something bigger which can force a change of government at the central level.
This is coming at a time the Department of State Services (DSS) issued an alarm saying it has uncovered plans by some criminal elements to attack some states in Nigeria, particularly the North Central.
The DSS said the sponsors are planning to make it look like an ethno-religious crisis and organize protests similar to the #EndSARS protest.
The alarm was raised in a statement on Saturday in Abuja made available to Naija News by the Public Relations Officer of the DSS, Peter Afunanya.
He observed further that the plot is to use students, striking University lecturers, labour unions, disgruntled individuals, and other strategic groups to carry out the protest.
The secret police however added that it is monitoring their moves and won’t hesitate to clamp down on them if necessary.
The reports on the Governors planning an uprising has it that they have started meeting in secret locations to perfect their plans and strategies.
A top security source quoted by Vanguard said security agencies and agents have been placed on alert to ensure the plans of the serving governors to cause chaos do not materialize.
The source said: “It is for this reason that our agency and sister security organisations have placed the three governors under constant watch and we are going to monitor their activities to ensure that they do not plunge the nation into avoidable crisis.”
“We have also deployed our men to flashpoints to ensure that the country is not pushed into the precipice by malevolent politicians who have virtually come to the end of their tenure and do not care if the country burns or not,” the official added last night.
