A family in Jigawa State has been thrown into mourning after a storey-building collapse resulted in the death of three children from the same parents.
The state command of the Nigeria Police Force confirmed the tragic death of the three teenage boys in a statement issued on Tuesday.
Naija News understands that the building collapsed in the Birnin Kudu Local Government area of the state.
The Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Lawan Shiisu, confirmed the incident on Tuesday in Dutse, noting that three additional individuals managed to survive.
Shiisu further stated that the incident was brought to the attention of the Birnin Kudu division by the boys’ father, Ahmad Isah, who resides in the Kafar Bai quarters, on the same day.
“Today, at about 12:05 p.m., one Ahmad Isah of Kofar Bai quarters, Birnin Kudu LGA reported at Brinin Kudu Division that one of the rooms in his house had collapsed.
“On receipt of the tragic report, a team of policemen raced to the scene and in conjunction with good samaritan launched a rescue operation and were able to evacuate seven persons.
“The victims were quickly rushed to the Birninkudu General Hospital for medical attention,” Shiisu said.
He stated that upon arrival, the attending physician verified that three out of the seven individuals were deceased, identifying the deceased as Khalifa Ahmad, aged 13, and Tijjani and Rabiu Ahmad, both aged 12.
He further mentioned that the bodies of the deceased have been returned to their family for burial, while the four survivors have been admitted to the hospital and are showing positive responses to treatment.
