Real Madrid’s newest signing, Endrick, was officially unveiled as a player for the club on Saturday, amidst high emotion.
Endrick, the 18-year-old Brazilian forward, who will wear shirt number 16 for Real Madrid next season, expressed his profound joy at fulfilling what he described as “a dream” to sign for the La Liga giants.
The deal for Endrick’s transfer from Palmeiras to Madrid was reached in December 2022, but the formalities meant he had to wait until he turned 18 on July 21, 2024, to officially join the Spanish team.
Overwhelmed with happiness, the teary Brazilian said, “This is crazy. I am so happy since I was a kid I have always been a Madrid fan and now I am going to play for Madrid.”
The Brazil international added, “I am here, I am going to play, I am so happy, my family are as well. I don’t have words to describe what I am feeling. I always wanted to be here. I wanted to play for Madrid. It was a dream. Today it is a reality.”
In an interesting turn of events, it was revealed that Endrick was originally slated to wear shirt number 9 for Real Madrid. However, due to Kylian Mbappe’s official unveiling and subsequent claim to the number, Endrick graciously accepted the no.16 shirt.
Endrick’s journey to this point has been remarkable – he made his senior debut for Palmeiras at the age of 16, initially donning shirt number 16 before transitioning to his preferred shirt number 9. His contract with Real Madrid is expected to keep him at the Santiago Bernabéu until at least June 30, 2030.
