'The World Can Testify' - Emir Of Daura Speaks On President Tinubu's Reelection

The Emir of Daura, Umar Faruq-Umar, has declared support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, citing the president’s exemplary show of honour during the burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking at his palace in Daura, Katsina State, on Saturday, the 97-year-old monarch said Tinubu’s conduct during the mourning period of the late Nigerian leader was unparalleled in Nigeria’s political history.

In an emotionally charged address, the monarch stood to his feet and praised President Tinubu, commending the administration’s gesture in giving Buhari a state burial worthy of a national icon.

“I am thankful to President Bola Tinubu, a good person I have been with in the last 30 years. The world can testify to what the president did to this state and the Daura Emirate,” the Emir of Daura declared.

“I have never seen a befitting state burial and honour done by a president like what Tinubu has done to Muhammadu Buhari.”

He listed some of the efforts made by the President, including personally attending the funeral, declaring a public holiday, providing a presidential jet for the conveyance of the remains, and delegating top government officials to console the bereaved family.

“This respect and honour shown to us by the president will not be forgotten; we are going to reciprocate it. This is why in 2027 we are going for Tinubu,” the monarch added.

Tinubu’s Empathy Moved Us – Says First Lady

Naija News reports that during the visit, the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who led a delegation of the Nigerian Governors’ Wives Forum to Daura for the condolence visit, described Buhari’s death as a personal loss to her family.

She said, “We are not here today merely out of duty. We are here because this loss is deeply personal.

The First Lady described the late President Buhari as a man of unwavering integrity who left an indelible legacy of discipline and honour in Nigerian politics.

“My husband, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has lost not just a former Head of State, but a trusted ally and friend of over 30 years,” she added.

The condolence visit was facilitated by Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State, who led the First Lady and the delegation of governors’ wives to the Daura palace. Also present was the wife of the Vice President and other high-ranking female dignitaries.

The Emir’s endorsement adds to a growing wave of support for President Tinubu in the northern region following Buhari’s death, signalling what may become a significant bloc of political backing ahead of the 2027 general elections.
