Former Osun State Governor and Interim National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has called on residents of the state to actively participate in the forthcoming Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) ahead of the August 8, 2026 governorship election.
Naija News reports that Aregbesola made the appeal during a stakeholders’ meeting of the Omoluabi Progressives in Ilesa.
According to a statement issued on Monday in Osogbo by the group’s Publicity Secretary, Abosede Oluwaseun, Aregbesola stressed the need to mobilise young eligible voters to take advantage of the CVR window, which begins on August 18, to set the tone for a “people-oriented and progressive” administration.
“The time has come to swing into action. The forthcoming CVR is crucial to the task ahead,” the former governor stated.
“It is important for everyone to actively participate, mobilise, and galvanise our people, especially young people of voting age.”
He reminded his supporters of their core mandate to restore progressive governance in Osun through issue-based campaigns and responsible political engagement.
“We must maintain decorum in our political engagements. We also need to focus on policy and issue-based debates that enrich political discourse and set the tone for our mission,” Aregbesola added.
Group Chairman, Alhaji Azeez Adesiji, while speaking at the meeting, applauded the commitment of members since the group’s adoption of the ADC.
“Our goal remains clear, to return Osun to true progressive leadership in 2026. Participating in the CVR is a critical step in that journey,” Adesiji said.
Naija News reprts that the stakeholders’ meeting served as a mobilization point for party loyalists, who were urged to sensitise residents across all local governments on the importance of obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the crucial poll.
