'The Letter Is Fake' - Muhammed Babangida Denies Rejecting Tinubu's Appointment

Muhammed Babangida, the son of former Military President, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, has denied reports that he rejected an appointment by President Bola Tinubu.

Naija News reports that President Bola Tinubu had appointed Babangida as the Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA).

The appointment was among several strategic appointments approved by President Tinubu to strengthen leadership across key government institutions.

However, on Monday, certain reports emerged with claims that Muhammed had rejected the appointment.

In a reaction to the reports, the media consultant to the Babangida family, Deyemi Saka, in a statement made available to Naija News, clarified that the purported letter of rejection is fake.

He added that mischief-makers seeking personal interests are responsible for spreading fake news and urged members of the public to disregard such reports.

According to the statement, Muhammed considers the appointment as a call to serve Nigeria.

“Our attention has been drawn to a certain letter currently in circulation, indicating that Mr. Muhammed Babangida declined his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), as the Chairman of Bank of Agriculture. Not only is the letter fake but mischievous, and only the imagination of mischief makers seeking personal selfish interests over and above our collective national interest.

“Mr. Muhammed Babangida holds President Tinubu in high regards and consider the call to serve our nation a great honour, one not taken for granted.

“He believes strongly in the bold reforms of Mr. President, which are the hallmarks of his RENEWED HOPE AGENDA.

“Nigerians are therefore advised to disregard the fake letter,” the statement read.
