The Senator representing Imo North District, Engr. Patrick Ndubueze, popularly known as the Legacy Senator of South East, has on Monday made a strong case for funding and implementation of Capital Projects in the 2026 Budget.

Senator Ndubueze made this frank assertion and critical demand at the budget defence session of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment. The Legacy Senator, A member of the Senate Committee on Industry, Trade and Investment decried zero funding and implementation of Capital Projects in the 2025 fiscal year, stressing that the development was not consistent with the Renewed Hope Agenda, calling for innovative thinking by Ministries towards addressing the matter, with alternative measures.

He further implied that limiting Budget implementation to payment of salaries amounted to running a Socialist Economy rather than Capitalist, describing the situation as self indicting on the ruling APC which he is part of, pointing the negative impacts as a politician.

Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, the Honourable Minister of Investment, Trade and Investment, accepting the observation of Senator Ndubueze, went on to outline innovative measures and solutional plans of the Ministry to address the challenge in the 2026 Fiscal Year. WATCH VIDEO BELOW
