Human Rights activist, Aisha Yesufu, has commended the chairman of Kano State National and State Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, Justice Flora Azinge, for rejecting a bribery attempt by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
Naija News earlier reported that Azinge, who expressed anger while speaking in open court before the commencement of the session on Tuesday in Kano, lamented how senior lawyers particularly engage in the unethical practice.
Although she did not disclose the identity of the senior lawyer, Ms Azinge said the SAN in question has a pending case before the tribunal.
Reacting to the development, Aisha, in a Twitter post, frowned at the audacity of the SAN in trying to bribe a judge.
She stressed that many politicians are always with the assumption that they can toss the judges, the reason they mock people and tell them to go to court after an election.
Aisha added that judges who are incorruptible, like Azinge, are those who walk tall in society.
She wrote: “The audacity to try and bribe a judge. One must be so secure in the corruption that has been entrenched to do that.
“Reason they mock people and say Go to court! They think the courts are in their pockets.
“The incorruptible judge like the one here must be the ones who walk tall on our society”
