The Super Falcons have been honoured as the Women’s National Team of the Year at the 2024 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards, marking their second consecutive win in this category.

The award ceremony, held in Marrakech, Morocco, celebrated the Nigerian women’s national team’s consistent excellence on the continental stage.

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, accepted the award on behalf of the team.

In his remarks, Gusau attributed the achievement to the unwavering commitment to developing women’s football in Nigeria.

The Super Falcons have long been a dominant force in African women’s football, with a record eleven Women’s Africa Cup of Nations titles.

Their recent performances, including a commendable showing at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, have further solidified their status as a powerhouse in the sport.

In addition to the Super Falcons’ recognition, Nigerian players made significant impressions at the awards.

Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie was shortlisted for the Women’s Player of the Year award, reflecting her outstanding contributions between the posts.

Furthermore, Nigerian champions Edo Queens were nominated for the Women’s Club of the Year, underscoring the depth of talent in the nation’s women’s football.

The CAF Awards celebrate the finest talents and teams in African football, and Nigeria’s prominence across multiple categories highlights the country’s significant contributions to the sport.
