Super Eagles of Nigeria forward, Nathan Tella has expressed his frustration with the limited playing time he has been experiencing at German Bundesliga reigning champions, Bayer Leverkusen.
Nathan Tella joined the club from Premier League club, Southampton, during the 2024 summer transfer window but has found it challenging to secure a spot in the starting lineup.
Despite featuring in 24 league games as a substitute last season, the 25-year-old has only made three league appearances this season.
In an interview with the German newspaper BILD, Tella revealed his disappointment with not playing regularly, describing it as “frustrating.”
When asked about how he feels about playing less regularly at Bayer Leverkusen, the 25-year-old right-midfielder said, “It’s frustrating, to be honest. But I spoke to the coach. He assured me that I would get opportunities and that I have to be patient.
“When I get a chance, I have to show myself. I think I’ve done well, and I also think I’m training well.
“Now it is up to the coach to have the confidence to use me. He makes the decisions – and they work well.”
Note that Nathan Tella has managed to play just 82 minutes of football in the German Bundesliga. He has featured in three league games as a substitute so far this campaign.
