The senator representing Nasarawa West, Ahmed Wadada, has formally resigned his membership of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), citing prolonged internal disputes within the party.

His resignation was contained in a letter addressed to the party chairman of Tudun Kofa Ward, Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

In the letter, Wadada expressed that the decision was a difficult one but necessary given the divisions rocking the party.

He wrote, “I am writing to inform you of my decision to resign as a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), effective immediately. This decision has not been taken lightly, but I feel compelled to do so due to the lingering internal crisis that has plagued our party for some time.”

The lawmaker added that the persistent conflicts within the SDP had degenerated into litigation and sharp divisions.

“I appreciate the opportunities given to me while being a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), and I am grateful for the experiences and relationships built. However, I feel it is time for me to move on and explore new avenues,” he said.

Wadada, however, did not disclose his next political destination. His resignation has left speculations open on whether he will pitch tent with another party ahead of future elections.

It would be recalled that on August 13, while addressing State House correspondents after meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, the senator had lauded the president’s performance in office.

Wadada said, “No presidential hopeful on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition platform can match Tinubu’s performance in office.”
