Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on Tuesday said the White Paper on the report submitted by the EndSARS Judicial Panel of Inquiry will be released today.
Naija News recalls that the Justice Doris Okuwobi-led panel was set up by the state government to investigate the shooting of unarmed protesters at the Lekii Toll Gate on October 20, 2020.
The panel, however, indicted the Nigerian Army and Police, as well as the state government in the leaked report and described the Lekki tollgate incident as a massacre.
Addressing the people of Lagos on Tuesday, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the release of the White paper would bring closure to a painful episode of the Lekki shooting.
He said: “As an administration, are determined that the next steps that will be taken in this process of coming to terms with the events of October 2020, must bring closure to a painful episode in the history of our state, with the release of the White Paper later today.”
In other news, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday arrested a former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode.
According to Daily Trust, Fani-Kayode was arrested at the premises of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, and moved to the EFCC office nearby.
It was gathered that the former minister was in court on Tuesday for the continuation of his forgery trial.
The former minister, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) was subsequently arrested and moved to custody.
Confirming the arrest, EFCC investigator, Shehu Shuaibu, said Fani-Kayode was being questioned over false documents.
