The National Chairman of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Yabagi Sani, has applauded the removal of former Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari.

Recall that Tinubu appointed Bashir Ojulari as the new CEO after Kyari’s removal.

Sani, a former staff member of the defunct Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), said the move by President Bola Tinubu was long overdue.

Speaking to newsmen on Sunday, he stated that when Tinubu, shortly after his assumption of office, removed the former Governor of Central Bank (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, some Nigerians applauded him because Emefiele left his core duties and moved with political office holders.

The ADP chairman noted that many Nigerians had also expected President Tinubu to remove Mele Kyari, given that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) was regarded as one of the country’s major challenges.

He, however, commended the President for the removal of fuel subsidy and the floatation of the naira, which he described as two cankerworms that had eaten deep into the country’s fabric.

He said, “If NNPCL must work, according to him, the shareholders should be allowed to decide who manages it and the company should be quoted at the Nigerian Stock Exchange.”
