Samuel Chukwueze’s Injury Blamed For AC Milan’s Draw With AS Roma

AC Milan’s former manager Paulo Fonseca acknowledged that Samuel Chukwueze’s injury played a significant role in the team’s inability to secure a victory against AS Roma in Sunday’s Serie A matchup.

Samuel Chukwueze, who had a strong performance at the start of the game, unfortunately, had to leave the field just two minutes into the second half due to injury.

Fonseca reflected on how this change impacted the team’s strategy. “In the first half, we created several chances to score, and the players showed great effort,” he noted after the match. “However, with Chukwueze’s departure, we faced challenges and took more risks than we intended. We certainly deserved to win, yet we missed several opportunities.”

Note that AC Milan announced the dismissal of coach Paulo Fonseca on Monday, December 30, following a disappointing six-month tenure that yielded lacklustre performances.

AC Milan’s 1-1 draw against AS Roma marked the team’s sixth stalemate of the season and left them languishing in seventh place, a staggering eight points behind Lazio, who occupy the fourth and final Champions League qualifying position, and a daunting 12 points behind city rivals Inter Milan, who are currently in the title race.

Meanwhile, former Barcelona striker Gary Lineker has predicted that Liverpool will win the 2024-2025 Premier League title.

Currently, Liverpool hold an impressive eight-point lead over second-placed Nottingham Forest as they approach the New Year.

Under the guidance of their new manager, Arne Slot, Liverpool have achieved remarkable success, winning 14 out of 18 matches this season. Although there were initial doubts about how the team would perform after the departure of former manager Jurgen Klopp, Slot has undeniably elevated Liverpool’s game.

Following Liverpool’s convincing 5-0 win against West Ham on Sunday, Lineker discussed their title prospects on The Rest is Football podcast, stating, “They were truly impressive once again. They’ve established a strong lead now, and Nottingham Forest’s performance is commendable.

“I genuinely find it hard to imagine anyone catching up with Liverpool at this point. They appear to be on an unstoppable path.”
