Three suspected ritualists caught with a human heart have been arrested by the Osun State Police Command in Osogbo/OAU Ife Campus Road, Osun State.
The suspects identified as Olayade Kehinde, 25, Olufemi Oriyomi, 21 and Raimi Sheriff, 21 were apprehended on April 7 by security operatives on stop and search duty.
SP Yemisi Opalola, the Command’s spokesperson released a statement explaining that the suspects who were on a motocycle were stopped by police officers on stop and search duty. When flagged down by the police officers, the suspects refused to stop instead sped off which led to the police giving a hot pursuit.
The trio were later arrested in the Safejo area of Ile-Ife.
Recovered from them were a human heart which they claimed belong to their friend and various charms.
Opalola further revealed that one of the suspects, Oriyomi fell ill while on detention and was rushed to the hospital however he died while on admission.
“The remaining two suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation,” she said.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olawale Olokode, however, advised parents to monitor their children, and warn them against bad company they might be moving with.
