After failing to secure the ticket of the Kaduna North Federal Constituency of the House of Representative, Adam Namadi, the son of former Vice President, Namadi Sambo has reportedly requested delegates to reimburse the N2 million apiece he gave to them.
Adams Nanadi had intended to run under the platform of the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Namadi was the aspirant who received the least votes among the three contestants, despite allegedly promising to add N1.5 million to the money provided to each of the delegates if handed the ticket.
The delegates raked in millions of naira from the aspirants who appeared in a hurry to outspend one another.
Samaila Suleiman, a serving federal member, won the ticket by defeating Namadi and Shehu Usman ABG.
Suleiman, who recently switched from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), won with 22 votes against Shehu Usman’s 14.
Some delegates who spoke with Daily Trust, said Suleiman had distributed between N3.5m and N4m to each delegate while ABG gave out N2.5million in cash and Namadi had distributed N2million to delegates.
However, after losing the competition, both ABG and Namadi wanted a full refund.
Suleiman, the Chairman of the House Committee on Special Duties, abandoned the APC when Governor Nasir el-Rufai’s son expressed interest in taking his place in the green chambers.
