Paris Saint-Germain star Achraf Hakimi has spoken publicly for the first time since facing rape allegations, stressing that he is innocent.

Naija News reports that the Nanterre prosecutor’s office in Paris, France, recently called for the case to go to trial.

In an interview with Foot Africa, Achraf Hakimi said he remains “calm” despite the ongoing legal process.

“I am calm. Being falsely accused is horrible, unfair. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I know the truth will come out,” Hakimi said.

“I have nothing to blame myself for, and those who know me are aware of that. I remain composed and focus on the important things in my life, namely family and football. As I said, the truth will come out.”

Hakimi is accused of raping a 24-year-old woman in March 2023. According to prosecutors, he allegedly invited the woman to his home in Boulogne-Billancourt, a suburb of Paris, while his wife and children were away on holiday. Reports claim he also covered her travel expenses.

The 25-year-old defender, a key figure for both PSG and Morocco’s national team, has continued to feature for club and country amid the investigation.

The case has drawn significant media attention in France and across the football world, with many awaiting the outcome of the legal proceedings.
