President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived in Kano State for the wedding ceremony between his son Yusuf and Zahra, the daughter of the Emir of Bichi, Alhaji Nasir Bayero.
Before flying into Kano, President Buhari had earlier on Friday morning visited Yola in Adamawa State on a condolence visit to the family of the late Ahmed Joda as well as the government and people of the state.
The presidential/royal wedding taking place in the ancient city of Kano between Yusuf and Zahra has already attracted a lot of dignitaries and personalities from within and outside Nigeria, Naija News reports.
Confirming the President’s arrival, Buhari’s media aide, Bashir Ahmad wrote on Facebook: “President Muhammadu Buhari arrives Kano for his son, Yusuf Buhari’s wedding to Zahra Nasir Bayero taking place this afternoon at the Emir Palace in Bichi LGA.”
The wedding is billed to take place at the Emir’s palace in Bichi Local Government Area of Kano State.
Ahead of the President’s arrival, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had earlier arrived in Bichi, Kano State. The vice president arrived in Bichi on Friday alongside Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano.
Osinbajo had earlier arrived at the Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano from where he proceeded to Bichi with Governor Ganduje and other government officials.
Also, former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode was seen alongside Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno, Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara, the Minister of Communication and Digital economy, Isa Pantami among other eminent Nigerians who stormed Kano for the wedding.
Taking to his social media, Fani-Kayode wrote, “Flew into Kano with my friends and brothers Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara state, Governor Babagana Umar Zulum of Borno State, Senator Sani Ahmed Yarima, Senator Ali Ndume, Ambassador Bashir Yuguda, Hon. Minister Isa Pantami, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and others for the wedding ceremony of President Muhammadu Buhari’s son, Yusuf Buhari, to HRH Nasiru Ado Bayero, the Emir of Bichi’s daughter, Zahra Ado Bayero.”
