Nigerian singer, Olanrewaju Fasasi, professionally known as Sound Sultan, has reportedly been diagnosed and currently battling throat cancer in the United States of America.
According to SaharaReporters, the artist is said to have commenced chemotherapy in one of the hospitals in the country.
Chemotherapy is an aggressive form of chemical drug therapy meant to destroy rapidly growing cells in the body. It’s usually used to treat cancer, as cancer cells grow and divide faster than other cells.
Sound Sultan’s kick started his career in show business in 1990s, when he hosted shows to raise money for studio sessions.
By 1999, the singer had won several local talent-hunt shows. Then released his first single, “Jagbajantis” in 2000, which was a hit in Nigeria. He also independently released other singles and featuring other artists’ hit songs, he was signed by Kennis Music.
Sound Sultan began a working relationship with Wyclef Jean when featured alongside 2face Idibia and Faze on “Proud to be African” from Wyclef’s Welcome to Haiti: Creole 101 album.
In 2012, it was announced that Sound Sultan was made a UN Ambassador for Peace for his exemplary lifestyle and career.
In 2015, Sound Sultan released the rap single “Remember” after a long absence from the music scene.
