Kaduna State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of a ward councilor in the state after he was found with AK-47 riffle.
The suspect, Abdul Adamu Kinkiba, is reportedly serving a community in the Soba Local Government Area of the state.
He was, however, nabbed with the weapon around the Giwa Local Government Area of the state, Naija News understands.
The chairman of Soba Local Government Area, Engineer Suleiman Yahaya Richifa, while confirming the development to Daily Trust on Thursday evening, said the report was shocking to him as at the moment.
According to him, the area where the councilor was caught with the weapon was just a few walk away from a den of the bandits terrorising many parts of the state.
Richifa stated that the suspect is the councilor representing the Kinkiba ward in the council.
He, however, declined to make further comments about the incident as he claimed he was in serious grief about the news.
“Please allow me to overcome my shock,” Richifa added.
When contacted on the phone, the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed said he would give details about the incident in later hours.
“I’m on my way to the mosque now, I will call you back shortly”, Daily Post quoted him as saying.
