Benue youths in a new viral challenge, named #AtimFoodSharingChallenge have made a caricature of their state Governor, Samuel Ortom whose full names are “Atim Ortom Adorogo” after photos of him serving his aides food surfaced on social media.
Naija News understands that Jimin Geoffrey, a media aide to Governor Ortom recently shared the photos of the governor, on Friday, serving food to aides as a “show of humility”.
He captioned it; “In his usual show of humility, Governor Samuel Ortom today personally served his aides and friends food at the Governor’s Lodge, Benue Peoples House Makurdi,” the caption of the photos entitled, ‘HUMILITY: GOV ORTOM SERVES HIS AIDES FOOD’, partly read.
However, displeased Benue youths who said the state is wallowing in underdevelopment and severe poverty due to the refusal of the Governor to pay salary, took to social media to recreate the Governor’s food sharing photos to mock and protest against the insensitivity of the Ortom administration
According to the youths, the administration of Governor Ortom owes over 30 months pension arrears while Local government staff and State workers are owed over 15 months and 8 months salary arrears respectively.
They also noted how insecurity in the state has skyrocketed since Governor Ortom took over power.
One of the posts from Benue youths reads; “The recent flamboyant dinner the Governor and his aides and friends held at the Governor’s Lodge amidst the escalating insecurity and abject poverty in the state where the Governor was giving everyone plate has raised eyebrows, and Benue people are mimicking the dinner photos to mock Governor Ortom who they described as “monumental failure”.
