Persevere, It Takes Times For Inflation To Come Down - Sen Musa To Citizens

Niger East Senator, Mohammed Sani Musa, has called on Nigerians to persevere amid hardship and inflation, stating it takes time for inflation to come down.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator said this on Monday, during a Joint Committee of the National Assembly on Finance meeting with Minister of Budget and National Planning, Atiku Bagudu; Group Executive Officer of Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mela Kyari, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Yemi Cardoso.

The minister, NNPCL GEO and the CBN governor, represented by Deputy Governor (Economic Policy) Muhammad Sani Abdullahi briefed the NASS Joint Committee on Finance, chaired by Senator Sani Musa, on policies and efforts put in place by President Bola Tinubu-led federal government to address economic hardship and high inflation.

CBN Deputy Governor (Economic Policy) Muhammad Sani Abdullahi, said the challenges of rising inflation, foreign exchange rate fluctuations and food inflation would soon come down.

The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Atiku Bagudu, told the NASS joint committee the federal government was working to ensure issues surrounding minimum wage are addressed to ensure no disruption is done by workers to the economy.

On his part, NNPCL boss, Mele Kyari assured Nigeria would be next exporter of petroleum products by December.

In his remarks, Senator Musa assured citizens that the federal government was working round the clock to address hardship in the country.

Musa called on the citizens to persevere. He sought the support for President Tinubu.

Our critical interactive session with you as managers of the economy is about economic growth. It’s about how we can get our policies to work. How we will support Nigerians.

“The National Assembly is very concerned because we are the representatives of the people. And we are obliged to ask what is happening. And this is the reason for the meeting.

“And we have heard from you. At least you have given us preambles of the activities going on and how our economy can get back on track,” he said.

Senator Musa added that the indicators were already showing the country would bounce out of inflation and hardship.

You are all aware of the obstructions our economy has had in the previous years. And it’s not going to be easy, that overnight, in 365 days or in one year of the coming administration, things will change. It will be gradual.

“And I believe that Nigerians will persevere. This is the only time we can all come together as Nigerians to give His Excellency, the President, all the needed support. In order to get us out of all the trouble we have been in.”

“The indicators are showing that the economy is doing well. The only thing is that things are a bit difficult because it’s not easy for inflation that has gone up to go down like that. It takes time,” he added.
