Former presidential aide, Laolu Akande, has cautioned Human Rights activist, Aisha Yesufu, over demeaning comments on former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Naija News recalls that Jonathan, on Friday, met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The former President, while fielding questions from State House reporters after a closed-door meeting with Tinubu, described himself as a “roving ambassador”.
Jonathan revealed that he came to brief President Tinubu on his regional, continental, and international assignments.
He further stated that he used the visit to congratulate him on his victory at the apex court.
Reacting to the visit via X, Yesufu wrote: “Jonathan still sees himself as that child without shoes. A perfect example of the law of the lid playing out.
“What I have been saying for years. He made Buhari an option. A man he easily defeated in 2011.
“Even the killings under his administration, he always found them amusing. People romanticised his administration and had Buhari’s failure turning him into the hero he never was.”
However, Osinbajo’s former aide, in response, emphasised the importance of engaging in meaningful discourse on social media rather than resorting to insults and personal attacks.
Akande said speaking truth to power is crucial for a healthy democracy and emphasised that using insults weakens the impact of critical messages.
He further encouraged the staunch supporter of Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi and others to focus on serious discussions that can drive positive change, as there are pressing issues that demand attention.
He wrote: “Dear @AishaYesufu, speaking truth to power is key for a healthy democracy. Having been on both sides, I know accountability is vital, but insults only weaken our critical messages. Let’s engage in serious discourse that fosters change because there are more serious issues to sort.”
Aisha Yesufu has been criticising President Bola Tinubu and those congratulating him over his supreme court victory.
Recall that moment after the apex court validated Tinubu’s election, Aisha tweeted that Tinubu would never be her President.
