Onochie Meets Aregbesola Behind Closed Doors

Former Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Lauretta Onochie, has revealed the motive behind her private meeting with the former Minister of Interior and current National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola.

The meeting, which took place on Thursday, July 24, 2025, was disclosed by Onochie via a post on her verified Facebook page on Friday.

According to the former presidential aide, the closed-door conversation was driven by a mutual concern for Nigeria’s current challenges and the need to forge a new direction for the nation’s future.

“Yesterday, Big Brother and Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ogbeni RAUF AREGBESOLA, and yours truly had a meeting. It was centered around recovering our nation from her captives,” she wrote.

Although she did not reveal further details, the tone of her message hinted at a bipartisan strategy aimed at national redemption.

In her post, she added, “God bless Nigeria.”

The meeting has drawn attention in political circles, given Onochie’s previous role as Special Assistant on Social and Digital Media to former President Muhammadu Buhari, and her tenure as Chairman of the NDDC Board.

Onochie, known for her unwavering support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Buhari administration, has kept a relatively low political profile since leaving public office.

Her engagement with Aregbesola, now a prominent figure in the ADC opposition coalition, has fueled speculation about a possible realignment of political interests ahead of the 2027 general elections.
