Bandits terrorists have killed one person and kidnapped at least 18 persons at Angwar Zalla Udawa village in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
It was learned the criminals invaded the village along Kaduna-Birnin Gwari highway in the early hours of Sunday and kidnapped the villagers.
In a chat with Daily Trust, a community leader in the affected area, Muhammed Umaru, said the bandits invaded the village around 12:30am.
Umaru claimed that the gunmen during the invasion abducted 18 villagers which include married women and young ladies.
He, however, revealed that bandits killed a resident of the village known as Bala Jaja.
In other news, unknown gunmen suspected to bandits have kidnapped a former governorship aspirant in Plateau State, Nkemi Nicholas Nshe.
Naija News reports that Nshe contested in the 2019 election in the state under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
It was gathered that the politician was kidnapped in the night at his residence in Shendam Local Government Area of the state on New Year Day.
An associate of the former Chairman of the LGA, who spoke with The PUNCH, disclosed that the kidnappers had contacted his family demanding N100 million ransom for his release which he said the gunmen later reduced to N50 million.
The associate, however, revealed that Nshe’s abduction has raised concerns and was causing tension in the area.
