The Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Ayodele Olawande is set to formally open the 2024 National Youth Work Conference. The event which will be held in the Conference Hall of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, Abuja, will hold from Wednesday, 6th to Thursday, 7th November, 2024, starting at 9:00 daily. The highly anticipated Conference will host the assembly of youth development practitioners and professionals from across Nigeria to a 2 Day Capacity Building and induction of new members.
In a statement issued today in Abuja by the President of the Nigeria Youth Workers Association (NYWA), Ben Duntoye, it was noted that at least 200 participants will be attending in person while numerous others will join virtually from various locations within and outside the country.
He stated that the conference is organized in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Youth Devolopment and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in commemoration of the 2024 International Youth Work Week, under the theme, “A Right to Youth Work and a Positive Future for all Young People: Celebrating Diverse Expressions of Youth Work across the Globe.”
The Keynote Address will be delivered by Senator Yemi Adaramodu, Chairman, Senate Committee on Youth and Sports. Among the Special Guests expected to attend is Dr. Gloria Shajobi Ibikunle, Director of the Centre for Gender Security Studies and Youth Advancement of the University of Abuja. Representatives from the Commonwealth Secretariat (ComSec) and the Commonwealth Alliance of Youth Workers Association (CAYWA) are also slated to deliver addresses.
Duntoye further said that the Conference is being organized in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Youth Development (FMYD) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNPFA).
The Nigerian Youth Workers Association (NYWA) is the umbrella platform for Youth Development Practicers and Professionals in Nigeria. The association promotes professional youth work practice, connents and supports Youth Workers and promote standards and ethics in Youth Work in a view to ensuring young people attain their full potentials.
