The ancient Okigwe District, which is one of the historic areas of the South East Region of Nigeria has ironically been in complete darkness without Electricity for about 20 years running. The situation has persisted despite the good number of Political leaders produced by the District, coupled with contribution of the Okigwe People to rrgional and national development.

However, the sad story is about to change as light looms at end of the tunnel soon, as Senator Patrick Ndubueze has doggedly fought and attracted a legendary Project of Sub-Station to restore Electricity to Okigwe.

Sen. Ndubueze on 17th January 2025 made an unscheduled visit to assess the level of work going on at the Sub Station where the 1×60 Mobitran he attracted to ensure the restoration of Electricity in Okigwe after about 20 years of darkness.

The contract was awarded and abandoned about 16 years ago, but now reactivated courtesy of the Legislative sagacity of Sen. Patrick Ndubueze. The Senator showed satisfaction with the quality and speed of the job going on at the Sub Station and directed that they ensure completion in good time.

He was accompanied to the visit by Chief Chidi Ogbunikpa member representing Okigwe State Constituency, Chief Elthelbert Nwachukwu Commissioner in Local Government Service Commission and Dr Emma Mbanusi Snr Legislative Aid to the Deputy Senate President.

A Representative of the company assured the Senator that their company will deliver at the stipulated time.

Sen. Ndubueze assured the People of Okigwe that he would be on the neck of the Company and Authorities until the project comes to final fruition.
