The Borno State Governor, Prof Babagana Umara Zulum, on Thursday received the Honorary Fellowship of the Nigeria Youth Workers Association (NYWA).
The event took place in Maiduguri, Borno State capital during the Opening Ceremony of the 7th National Council on Youth Devolopment, convened by the Federal Ministry of Youth Devolopment.
The President of the Nigeria Youth Workers Association, Ben Duntoye, at the Ceremony, said the honour on the Governor is in recognition of Governor Zulum’s exceptional performance in uplifting Youth Devolopment n Borno State and Nigeria in general. He highlighted the achievements of the Governor in restoring and sustaining peace in Borno State, coupled with his monumental Youth Empowerment strides.
Governor Zulum is said to be the first personality to receive the Fellowship since the establishment of NYWA in 2019.
The President went on to inform that the National Executive Council of NYWA had resolved to name the Headquarters of the umbrella body for Youth Development Practitioners in Nigeria. after Prof Zulum as mark of appreciation for his passion for Youth Devolopment.
The Official Commissioning of the Prof. Babagana Zulum House, situated in Kado Estate, Abuja has been fixed to hold in January 2025.
Nigeria Youth Workers Association is
established as the umbrella body for all Youth Workers and Youth Development Practitioners in the country to ensure compliance with Code of Ethics and Standard Practices.
The Governor in his response commended NYWA for good work with Young People of Nigeria, while appreciating NYWA leadership for the Honourary Fellowship and naming of the Headquarters after him. He stated that the honour serves as motivation for him to do more for the Young People.
Governor Zulum further stressed the high premium his Government places on Youth Devolopment, describing Youth Work as a critical component of National Development that deserves adequate attention by all.
Present at the occasion was the Honorable Minister of Youth Devolopment, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, also Honourable Commissioners in charge of Youth, Representatives of the National Security Adviser (NSA), International Development Partners, top Government Functionaries from Borno State, Traditional Leaders, and Youth Leaders from across Nigeria.
In a related development, felicitations are being made by notable stakeholders, with Chairperson of the Commonwealth Alliance of Youth Workers Association (CAYWA) Dr. Jufriti Joha in Malaysia congratulating the Governor, commending him for his numerous support to sustainable Youth Devolopment.
Equally the Forum of State Commissioners in charge of Youth commended NYWA for honouring Governor Zulum.
