The National Security Adviser to President Bola Tinubu, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, on Sunday led a high-level Nigerian delegation to meet with the President of Chad, Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno.
The delegation included Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa; Major General Emmanuel Undiandeye, Chief of Defence Intelligence; Major General Ali Salau, Force Commander of the MNJTF; and other senior security officials.
Naija News gathered that the delegation delivered a written message from Nigerian President Bola Tinubu to President Déby.
In the message, President Tinubu extended his heartfelt condolences and reaffirmed Nigeria’s unwavering support for the Chadian President and people following the recent terrorist attack on Barkaram Island, which resulted in the deaths of several Chadian soldiers.
A statement from the MNJTF stated, “This meeting highlights the strong ties between Chad and Nigeria, particularly in addressing regional security challenges and combating terrorism.
“Both nations remain committed to strengthening their collaboration to promote peace and stability in the Lake Chad Basin region.”
